Geraldine Schilling-Nordal is a true Delta Kappa Gamma member. After joining in 1965, she was on the hospitality committee, the art chairman in the 70’s and 80’s, the banquet reservation chairman in the 90’s and early 2000’s, worked on the historical archives and the 50th and 60th anniversary committees. She attended a DKG leadership conference in 1996. Geraldine still makes as many meetings as possible, shares ideas, presents grants-in-aid awards and contributes to our many projects. She exemplifies a key woman educator. She was as an art educator in Agawam rising to chairman of the department and a curriculum writer. She created and coordinated many activities for students at the high school and served on state evaluations of high schools. She has shared her knowledge of art education through writing and sharing student work in art magazines for educators. Geraldine received a 50 year member pin and a lovely porcelain bell painted with a red rose.

Ursula Hogan
The May 2015 Banquet was a special occasion with the initiation of 4 new members and a few surprises!
Ursula Hogan was awarded the first President's Award for Leadership in the Alpha Chapter.
What is leadership? It is the ability to be confident enough to work for what you believe in and keep your integrity. To maintain a positive persona and continue to work for Alpha in the presence of adversity or hardships. To take risks and be responsible when things might not work out. To mentor others and offer assistance. Those are the qualifications for our new Alpha Chapter President’s Leadership award.
Ursula Hogan has exemplified all of these qualities. She has spread the word about Alpha Chapter world-wide in her travels since 1998! She is a person of many talents and can entertain you with piano playing as well as with puppets, gazoos and a computer and who knows what else! She has mentored many teachers and principals alike! She never takes a day off from Alpha, answering requests from many of us. Many of you might not know this, but this person makes sure the Alpha President has the funds to attend the conferences by selling items that she creates at state, regional, and international conferences while we are at the workshops. Ursula received a pin that reads “Chapter Woman of Distinction” and a red rose plant for her garden.
